Oh man, I love this. Poland you badass. *w*
It’s so flattering seeing my arts going around here! ovo
Omgomgomgomg!
I noticed something cool about the human body today!
So you know how the right lung has 3 lobes and the left lung has 2?
Well, the right atrium and ventricle of the heart are joined by the tricuspid valve, which means it has 3 cusps. The left atrium and ventricle of the heart are joined by the mitral valve, also known as the bicuspid valve, meaning it has 2 cusps. It’s the little things like this that fascinate me!
Does anyone know of other bodily things of which there are two on the left and three on the right?
I always thought the lobes thing was because the left lung loses a lobe to accomodate the heart + aortic knuckle? O: But this is indeed quite an interesting coincidence.
… I think I recall that during a sheep-lung dissection, the number of lobes is different, but the valve cusps remain the same as in a human. Ehhh!
